COURT HOUSE – The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office along with the Cape May County Chiefs of Police Association invites the public to attend a presentation detailing the uniform statewide procedures and practices for investigating and reviewing police use-of-force incidents as it relates to police involved shootings. The presentation will provide the public with information on the state’s procedures regarding police officer-involved shootings as set forth by the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General Supplemental Directive 2006-5 amended July of this year. The amended directive addresses seven core principles for maintaining the integrity of ongoing investigations;  comprehensive and impartial investigation;  maintenance and protection of integrity of ongoing investigations and rights of the accused; mandatory review of all actual and potential conflicts of interest; multi-tiered layers of independent review; uniformity in statewide investigative and legal practice, including grand jury practice; transparency of process and factual findings at appropriate junctures; ongoing outreach and study. The presentation will be held Nov. 30, 2015 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Atlantic Cape Community College, Room 212, located at 341 Court House-South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, NJ.
