WILDWOOD – Numerous police departments throughout Cape May County participated in “No Shave November” and raised more than $18,000 for Joey Povio and his family.
Povio, 7, of Dennis Township, is fighting retinoblastoma, a rare eye cancer primarily affecting children, which starts in the back of the eye.
Law enforcement officers presented a check to Povio Nov. 29 at Wildwoods Convention Center.
According to a post on Wildwood Police Department’s Facebook page, “Hundreds of Police, Sheriff’s, and Corrections Officers, as well as Agents and Investigators from the various Departments and Agencies within Cape May County, grew beards and mustaches during the No-Shave November program.
“These men and women made contributions and collected donations from their families and friends, civic and community groups and business as well.
“While we are still finishing up our final tally, to date we have collected $18,400.00! We couldn’t be more proud of the Cape May County Law Enforcement Family! To all that participated in this event, donated funds, or just offered Joey some support and encouragement, THANK YOU!”
In conjunction with “No Shave November,” Cape May Police Department started a page for Joey on GoFundMe, a popular crowdfunding website. The page, “CMPD Joey Strong No Shave November,” had raised a little more than $3,000 for his family as of press time.
Several checks sent to the department for Joey’s cause will bring the department’s total closer to $3,500.
Cape May – I am enjoying the meltdown from so many Leftists on president elect Trumps picks for his cabinet and their stating that he is bringing on people with zero experience in government. Yes, you nailed it…
