SWAINTON – Men and women who volunteer their time at The Holy Redeemer Food Pantry here have a holiday message they would like to share: “We need more help to keep our cupboards stocked.”
According to Rocco Santarcangelo, a long-time volunteer at the community-serving pantry, food supplies are running low, and if more donations are not made soon it might not be a merry Christmas for struggling area families.
“We’ve reached the bottom of the barrel,” said Santarcangelo, a Sea Isle City resident. “The regional food bank in Pleasantville, where we get a lot of our supplies, is running low as well. There is a specific need for meat, such as frozen turkeys and canned hams. What food comes in goes out very quickly because there are many local families who need assistance.”
Donations are always welcomed at the Holy Redeemer Food Pantry behind the Holy Redeemer Home Care facility on Route 9 in Swainton.
Food donations are accepted on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to noon. Checks (made out to “Holy Redeemer Food Pantry”) can be mailed to 1801 Route 9 North, Swainton, NJ 08210.
