MARMORA – Church members and community volunteers gathered Nov. 20 to assemble Thanksgiving-themed food baskets for local families in need.
For the past 15 years, the Parkway South Seven Day Adventist Church has been collecting food and monetary donations to help families by creating and delivering food baskets.
The collection drive began in October. The day of basket assembly, church members visited a local grocery store and used collected funds to purchase additional food items.
The group filled six carts with food at the grocery store, in addition to food items that were donated.
Included in the baskets were fresh pies, turkeys and everyday staples like cereal, peanut butter and soups. Books on wellness, health and a Thanksgiving prayer were also included with each basket.
A total of 24 baskets were created, an addition of two from the previous year.
As the baskets were assembled, the group chatted and gave thanks for the opportunity to give back to the community and help those in need. The baskets were blessed with a prayer and loaded into six vehicles. They were delivered through the county, from Villas to Ocean City.
The church contacts local non-profit organizations and families in the county that have experienced life events and may need a ‘hand up’ this holiday season. Someone arranges to personally deliver the basket to the family.
Members of the Parkway South Church explained they are always looking to help families in need. If anyone could use a helping hand this holiday season, contact their Facebook page or jhovik@cmcherald.com for additional information.
Cape May – I am enjoying the meltdown from so many Leftists on president elect Trumps picks for his cabinet and their stating that he is bringing on people with zero experience in government. Yes, you nailed it…
