Bounty Shared with Families in Need

Parkway South Church members and Thanksgiving basket volunteers gather for prayer and blessings as they work to ensure everyone has a reason to be thankful on Thanksgiving Day.

By Johanna Hovik

MARMORA – Members of the Parkway South Church in Marmora gathered Nov. 22 to create Thanksgiving food baskets for local families in need.
Church members and volunteers gathered at the Seventh Day Adventist Church creating food baskets that included traditional Thanksgiving dinner items and additional food staples. After a month of collecting food and monetary donations, a shopping trip commenced with dozens of turkeys and fresh pies purchased to include in these holiday baskets.
As the baskets were being made, laughter and smiles filled the room, a reminder that helping others truly is a gift in itself.
Finally, the group gathered hand-in-hand around the baskets for prayer and asked blessings on the receiving families. Baskets were loaded into the volunteers’ vehicles and delivered to Cape May County residents to help ensure they will have a Thanksgiving to remember.
