How they met: Stephen and Katie met through a Catholic dating site and connected due to their love of Ocean City. They had their first date in Ocean City, where Katie beat Stephen in a round of mini-golf. Katie recalls that it was “a super awkward” night. They agreed to see each other again and talked for 5 hours! From that moment Katie knew Stephen was someone she wanted to keep seeing.
The proposal: Katie had a feeling from the beginning of the evening that Stephen was about to propose. Katie was so nervous she needed a minute when Stephen picked her up to calm herself down. They went to Adoration at Our Lady of Sorrows, Katie thought he might have been planning a proposal there so her prayers consisted of asking for her nerves to be calmed. But no proposal came. They went to dinner at a Cape May favorite. She thought maybe then he would propose. But no proposal came. Around 10 PM, Stephen asked Katie to go to the Cape May Point Lighthouse. When they arrived Stephen gave her a letter of all the things he wanted to say to her in case he got nervous and forgot. After Katie was done reading the letter, Stephen got down on one knee.
The planning: Choosing Ocean City for their wedding was an easy choice as it had such a special place in the couple’s heart. They both grew up vacationing here every summer. They also had their first date on the island so it was a no brainer for them!
The wedding: Katie and Stephen tied the knot on June 7 surrounded by their closest family and friends.
Katie’s favorite moment: Katie was most thankful for being able to walk down the aisle toward her best friend and start their forever. Three months prior the wedding Katie had emergency brain surgery to remove a benign tumor that had been blocking her spinal fluid to her ventricles. Stephen was by her side the entire time and it was an enormous blessing to be able to enjoy their wedding day to the fullest.
