Weddings & Special Events Guide: Desiree and Nicholas

By Ashley Love

How they met: Nick and Desiree met their senior year of high school. Desiree remembers Nick being really shy at the time. It was not until six years later that they reconnected.
The proposal: Nick proposed exactly one year prior to their wedding. They were walking on the boardwalk in Sea Isle City when Nick asked Desi to sit. He got down on one knee right there! After, they went to celebrate at a local restaurant.
The planning: It was important for the couple to have a one stop shop. They fell in love immediately with Avalon. Living an hour away forced Desi to do most of her planning over the phone once she found her venue. For her bridal shower, everyone was asked to bring a brooch. Those brooches were turned into Desi’s bouquet so she could have a piece of everyone with her.
The wedding: Desi and Nicholas were married on May 17 on the beach. Desi was able to see guests arriving from her hotel room and could hear the harp playing from the beach. “The whole day was perfect,” according to Desi.
Desi’s favorite moment: “I have way too many favorite memories to choose just one,” Desi said. One of her favorite moments was being able to wake up and see the ceremony take shape. She was able to see guests arrive, hearing the harp playing and enjoy a breath taking view while she got ready for the ceremony. It was a magical moment!
