Wildwood/Lower Wastewater Treatment Facility

By Sponsored

The results of the Enterococci bacteriological sample collected on July 1, 2019 at 8:58 a.m. from the final effluent discharged from the Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority’s Wildwood/Lower Wastewater Treatment Facility is reported as non- detectable.

Wildwood/Lower Wastewater Treatment Facility’s final effluent is analyzed for bacteriological quality daily. Results of the facility’s final effluent Enterococci bacteria testing the days leading up to July 1, 2019 indicated an effluent bacteriological quality well within standards. Additionally, the Enterococci bacteria results from samples collected on July 1, 2019 by the Cape May County Board of Health in the beach closure area indicated bacteriological quality well within New Jersey State Sanitary Code standards for bathing beaches, thus resulting in the opening of the beaches.

The Authority has commenced an inquiry as to the cause of final disinfection system malfunction resulting in partially chlorinated wastewater being discharged from the Wildwood/Lower Wastewater Treatment Facility ocean outfall.
