Wildwood Businesses Offered Free Online Training

By Herald Staff

WILDWOOD — Small business owners located in Main Street Wildwood’s downtown Main Street District will receive an exclusive benefit starting Aug. 15.
Wildwood will be one of only 32 downtown districts in New Jersey that will have access to an online training library designed to teach owners how to increase their sales, profits, and customer traffic, according to a release.
According to Gerry Paxton, Main Street Wildwood president, online trainings, known as “DestinationUniversity” (www.DestinationUniversity.com ), were created by Jon Schallert, an internationally-recognized speaker and small business consultant who teaches businesses how to turn themselves into “consumer destinations.”
The Main Street New Jersey Program, through a grant to the Center for Non-Profits, is working with Schallert to bring the customized trainings to New Jersey’s Main Street businesses.
“Online rich-media training of this type is typically reserved for large corporations with massive information technology budgets. Wildwood’s downtown owners will be among the first in America who have access to these workshops, with this technology, thanks to Main Street New Jersey,” stated Schallert.
The online trainings will consist of six workshop “webinars”, one per month for six months.
Workshop topics include “Creating an Annual Marketing Plan,” “Increasing Website Profitability”, and “Building Word-of-Mouth Marketing”, to name a few. Additionally, owners monthly will be able to listen online to top business authors discussing similar marketing topics that tie into the specific workshop of the month.
The online trainings are designed to accommodate the schedules of busy independent business owners. “Owners will be able to view these online trainings 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at their convenience. No longer will an owner have to spend valuable time and money traveling away from their location to receive world-class business training,” stated Schallert.
Schallert is president of The Schallert Group, Inc. of Longmont, Colo. He speaks to thousands annually on his “Destination Business” processes, developed after over twenty years of working with small businesses, including ten years with greeting card giant Hallmark Cards.

Main Street Wildwood is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage and support the economic redevelopment of the Wildwoods’ traditional downtown business district.
