ATLANTIC CITY — The TD Bank Charitable Foundation recently awarded a $7,500 grant to AtlantiCare Foundation to expand services of the AtlantiCare Behavioral Health Family Center’s Violence Prevention Program at Viking Academy School here.
The program helps students in grades eighth through 12 learn non-violent solutions to conflict.
“The Violence Prevention Program started with less than 50 children. Now we have more than 100,” stated Rosalind Norrell-Nance, director, ABH Family Centers in a release. “This grant will help us coach more children in conflict resolution skills they can use in school, at home and throughout their life.”
With locations in Atlantic City and Hammonton, the ABH Family Centers provide and/or link families with housing and home energy assistance; recreational programs; mental health services including substance abuse prevention services and family counseling; pregnancy and family planning education; delinquency and violence prevention programs; health education classes; vocational services and economic assistance. These services are available at no charge to the community.
The AtlantiCare Foundation exists to improve the health and wellbeing of the community through a comprehensive development program that supports safe, equitable, quality healthcare; and promotes healthy behaviors.
