Sturdy’s CFO Named “Leader in Banking”

By Press Release

Gregory M. Matuson, Sturdy Savings Bank Senior Vice President, Treasurer & CFO, has been named a “New Leader in Banking” by New Jersey Banker magazine. Matuson was honored with the award at a recent banking conference in Atlantic City.
Matuson was chosen from a field of 36 bankers nominated statewide for the award. “We are proud of Greg’s accomplishments and thrilled that he has been honored with this prestigious award,” said Jerry Reeves, Sturdy President and CEO.
New Jersey Banker magazine and the New Jersey Banker’s Association created the award to recognize “rising stars” in the banking profession who are 40-years-old or younger, and are making a significant contribution to their community or to their bank.
This was the first year for the award, which was presented to 17 New Jersey bankers. The recipients will be recognized in the December issue of New Jersey Banker magazine.
Matuson oversees Sturdy’s daily financial operations and is an integral part of Sturdy’s management team. He is additionally responsible for strategic planning, financial reporting requirements and day-to-day accounting activities.
Matuson’s coworkers cite him for his leadership skills and keen knowledge of economics and the financial industry.
Matuson, a CPA, served as a staff accountant at Ford, Scott & Associates in Ocean City prior to joining Sturdy Savings Bank in 2000. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from The Richard Stockton College, and also graduated from Ocean City High School.
The longtime local resident is also a member of the Atlantic Cape College’s Board of Trustees. He resides in Egg Harbor Township with his wife and two daughters.
