CAPE MAY AIRPORT – The Naval Air Station Wildwood (NASW) Aviation Museum would like to thank Sturdy Savings Bank for its support of the museum’s Community Summer Programming which includes, youth summer camps, Runway 5K/10K, Free Summer Lecture Series, AirFest and 1940s Big Band Swing Dance.
Sturdy Savings Bank has been a longtime supporter of NASW and a community partner overall. Sturdy’s generous donation each year helps bolster the many programs that appeal to visitors and locals alike. The museum strives to reach as many people as possible. There are many reasons why vacationers flock to the Jersey Shore through the summer months. If they can learn a bit about the history of the county beyond its beautiful beaches by visiting the Naval Air Station, it is a job well done by museum staff and corporate sponsors like Sturdy to help forward the museum’s mission: restore and maintain Historic Hangar #1, memorialize the 42 men who perished while training and educate the public. The Board of Directors for the NASW Foundation sincerely thank Sturdy Savings Bank for its continued support.
Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum is located in Historic Hangar #1 at the Cape May Airport. The airport was once Naval Air Station Wildwood, which served as a World War II dive-bomber training center. The museum is dedicated to the 42 airmen who perished while training at Naval Air Station Wildwood between 1943 and 1945. The museum is currently open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
