Ready. Set. Shop!

By Al Campbell

RIO GRANDE — All thoughts turned to shopping on Nov. 23, the traditional day when Christmas shopping starts in earnest. It was no different here this year.
Adding a touch of the season to the first shopping day of the 2007 season, there was that familiar sound of a ringing bell which greeted Black Friday shoppers as they
searched for deals in the morning after Thanksgiving.
Felicia Smith, of Cape Human Resources, spent some of her day ringing the bell for donations to the Salvation Army outside of Wal-Mart in the Grande Cetner Shopping Center on Route 9.
The holiday rush icontinued on in store like Michael’s in Rio Grande as shoppers braved the traffic and lines to grab up deals before the day is out.
