RIO GRANDE — Middle Township Mayor F. Nathan Doughty “bagged it” at ShopRite of Rio Grande on Sept. 23 to fight hunger.
According to a release, Doughty teamed up with the ShopRite of Rio Grande, 1700 Route 47 South, to help bag hunger in recognition of “ShopRite Partners In Caring Day,” a celebration of the 10th anniversary of ShopRite Partners In Caring.
ShopRite Partners In Caring is a year-round community based hunger fighting charity that helps raise awareness and funds for local food banks.
In honor of the charity’s 10th anniversary, Doughty served as honorary grocery bagger at Register 10 from 10 to 11 a.m.
Throughout the day, cashiers at all registers accepted monetary donations to help fill the shelves of local community food banks.
