Matteucci President of Chiefs Association

NORTH WILDWOOD — North Wildwood’s Chief of Police Robert Matteucci was sworn in as president of the Cape May County Chiefs of Police Association on Jan. 22, at an installation dinner in Avalon. Matteucci will serve a two-year term as presi-dent of the association.
Also elected to two-year terms were: Chief Edward P. Donohue, Lower Township Police Department, vice president; Chief Thomas D’Intino, Sea Isle City Police Department, treasurer; Chief Chris-topher Leusner, Middle Township Police Department, recording secretary.
Active and retired chiefs of police, local mayors and dignitaries, as well as representatives of federal, state and county law enforcement agencies attended the dinner.
The County Free-holders represented by Freeholders Ralph Sheets Jr., Ralph Bakley Sr. and Leonard Desiderio, presented proclamations to outgoing President Jim Rybicki of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and incoming President Robert Matteucci.
North Wildwood Mayor Bill Henfey presented Matteucci with a plaque from the city that reads: “Presented to Chief Robert A. Matteucci, City of North Wildwood Police Department, upon being elected President of the Cape May County Chiefs’ of Police Association, and with gratitude and deep appreciation for his exemplary dedication and service to the citizens of North Wildwood, January 2010.”
Henfey said, “It’s very gratifying to see our own police chief accepting this key position. He is exceptionally deserving of this honor because of all he contributes to the city, not only as Police Chief, but also as Coordinator of the Office of Emergency Manage-ment, as a volunteer firefighter, and as a member of the city Planning Board.”
The officers received state proclamations from State Sen., Jeff Van Drew along with Assemblymen, Nelson Albano and Matt Milam who were also in attendance at the dinner. The oath of office was administered by Cape May County Prosecutor, Robert Taylor.
The Cape May County Police Chiefs Association members include all police chiefs in Cape May County, The Cape May County Prosecutor and Sheriff, Director of the Cape May County Police Academy, the Station Commander of the Woodbine State Police Barracks, the troop commander of the Delaware River and Bay Authority, as well as federal partners to include: the local FBI, Secret Service and DEA agents in charge.
The association meets monthly to coordinate law enforcement activities and training throughout the county, including the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team, Cape May County Police Academy, Police Information Sharing and Intelligence Gathering Networks.
