WILDWOOD — Melissa T. Lomax, postmaster in Cape May Point, and Bernadette E. Puodziunas, postmaster in Wildwood, will unveil the brilliantly colored enlargements of the “Early TV Memories” and “Gary Cooper” stamps at this year’s Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce 6th Annual Fabulous ‘50s Street Fair.
On Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., continue to “Stroll down memory lane” with the postmasters by visiting the United States Postal Service’s retail display tent at the fair at Fox Park, Burk and Ocean avenues.
Visitors will be able to purchase the commemorative postage stamps, pick-up a free Fall and Winter 2009 USA Philatelic Magazine, learn about the United States Postal Service’s products and services, be informed on how to order First-Day-Of Issue-Postmarks and participate in plenty of free promotional giveaways.
Unveiling of the new stamps is scheduled to begin promptly at “High Noon.”
The new 44-cent stamps are available nationally and are on sale at your local post office. The “Early TV Memories” stamps commemorates twenty great shows from TV’s “Golden Age;” including Howdy Doody, The Red Skelton Show, I Love Lucy, Perry Mason, Texaco Star Theater, Dragnet, Lassie, Hopalong Cassidy, You Bet Your Life, The Dinah Shore Show, The Ed Sullivan Show, Kukla, Fran, and Ollie, The Phil Silvers Show, The Lone Ranger, Perry Mason, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Burns and Allen, Ozzie and Harriet, The Tonight Show, The Twilight Zone and The Honeymooners.
The United States Postal Service honors Gary Cooper (1901-1961) as the 15th stamp in its “Legends of Hollywood” series. A cowboy from Helena, MT, Cooper started in the movies by falling off horses during Hollywood’s “Golden Age.”
