Cremation Informational Seminar set for Aug. 23
NORTHFIELD – As a nation, many Americans are choosing cremation as their final right of disposition when they pass on. In fact, according to the Cremation Society of Great Britain, just over half of all Americans are cremated when they die, and this is expected to rise to 79 percent by 2035.
“There are multiple reasons for this growing trend toward cremation,” stated Andrew B. Hoffman, Funeral Director at Jeffries & Keates Funeral Home. “Changing demographics and opinions on religion play a role in the popularity of being cremated, as well as families moving farther apart, environmental concerns and of course, cost.”
Cremation reduces the individual to its basic elements and minerals through a process of extreme heat and evaporation. Many are choosing cremation; however, many more are not aware of the different types of cremation services, and even fewer understand the cremation process itself.
As a result, on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 6:30 p.m., Jeffries & Keates Funeral Home and Laurel Memorial Park Cemetery and Crematory will be co-hosting a free community informational seminar about the nature, options, laws and benefits of cremation.
Paxson Keates, a representative of Laurel Memorial Park Cemetery and Crematory, will be on hand to explain the process of cremation and the rules and regulations that a properly run crematory must abide by. Also, Andrew B. Hoffman, Funeral Director at Jeffries & Keates Funeral Home, will be speaking about the different types of cremation, various cremation products and different types of disposition of cremated remains.
Jeffries & Keates Life Celebration Funeral Home, located at 228 Infield Ave., Northfield, is a community oriented funeral home that offers meaningful services with a high degree of personalization. Jeffries & Keates opened as a family-owned business in 1862. For more information on programs and services, visit www.jeffriesandkeates.com.
