RIO GRANDE – On March 26, the Facebook Journalism Project (FJP), the Lenfest Institute for Journalism and the Local Media Association (LMA) announced that the Cape May County Herald will be awarded a $5,000 grant to support coronavirus news coverage for our community.
Earlier this month, FJP partnered with Lenfest and LMA to offer grants to support local news organizations and help cover any unexpected costs associated with coronavirus crisis coverage in their communities. The Herald is one of 50 newsrooms in the United States and Canada to receive a grant, which were created to help fulfill needs such as expanded news coverage, combating misinformation and serving vulnerable and at-risk groups.
During this crisis, the Herald is offering full coverage of the COVID-19 / coronavirus emergency, with no payment required, to ensure our readers can make critical decisions for themselves and their families during this ongoing situation. The Herald is doing everything it can to best serve the community and appreciates the recognition and support for our continued coronavirus coverage from FJP, Lenfest and LMA.
Receive all updates related to coronavirus by ensuring you are signed up for the Herald’s mobile alerts, subscribed to the daily newsletter, and following the Herald on Facebook. To continue supporting this vital reporting, please also consider signing up for a digital subscription to help support our digital operations.
