Birchall Appointed Manager of Diabetes Center at Cape Regional

COURT HOUSE — Patricia Birchall, RN, BSN, CDE, has been appointed Clinical Manager of The Diabetes Center at Cape Regional Medical Center.
Ms. Birchall has been a part of the Cape Regional Medical Center Team since 1987 and has served in The Diabetes Center since 2010. Ms. Birchall has an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Atlantic Cape Community College, a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Drexel University. She is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science in Nursing and is enrolled in the Nursing Practitioner Program-Family Practice at Drexel University. She is a Certified Diabetes Nurse Educator and has experience working in the Intensive Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Same Day Surgery, Emergency Department and Medical Surgical area.
“Patti is a great asset to The Diabetes Center, the Center’s programs, and especially the patients we serve,” stated Deborah Baehser, RN, MSHA, Vice President of Patient Services at Cape Regional Medical Center. “Her diverse clinical experience, coupled with her passion for diabetes care and extensive training, are all qualities and tools that will empower the Diabetes Program at Cape Regional Medical Center as we move into the future.”
Cape Regional Medical Center is currently the only Advanced Inpatient Diabetes Program certified by The Joint Commission in the region. It is also recognized by the American Diabetes Association and is staffed by seven Certified Diabetes Educators. The Center conducts ADA Diabetes Self-Management Classes at various times during the day and evening throughout each month; the cost of this program is covered by most insurances.
