Free event features over 60 exhibitors
Advanced robotic technology, accessible vehicles and therapy animals are just a few highlights at Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation’s 4th annual Ability Fair taking place Tuesday, July 31 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Stockton University’s Student Campus Center located at 101 Vera King Farris Dr. in Galloway.
Free and open to the public, the Ability Fair will showcase over 60 exhibitors featuring products and services to improve daily living for children and adults with disabilities and physical challenges. The Ability Fair is scooter, walker and wheelchair accessible. Free parking is available close to the Student Campus Center in Parking Lot 2 and free brown bag lunches will be available to all attendees. Register today by visiting www.AbilityFair.org.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the resources and programs available to those with disabilities – from the latest power wheelchairs, to contractors who specialize in accessible home remodeling, to the newest assistive devices to make their lives easier. Free
5-minute hearing screens will be conducted by Bacharach doctors of audiology, and a free exercise class for people with Parkinson’s Disease will be led by Kimberly Cullen, PT, DPT, CLT.
The Ability Fair features something for everyone – including animal lovers. Attendees can pet a puppy being trained by The Seeing Eye organization or meet a therapy horse from Hearts Therapeutic Riding Center. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear inspiring stories of determination and perseverance from rehabilitation advocates and local community members: Anthony Marquez, the Ability Fair’s Master of Ceremonies and an 18-year-old who became paralyzed two years ago in a trampoline accident, and Mike Braxton, an Amputee Coalition Certified Peer Volunteer and Atlantic City Police Officer.
