COURT HOUSE — Most would reasonably ask, why a cooking show at a chiropractic office?
According to a release, “The answer involved my mother-in-law, a famous cooking show and a frustrating day at the office.”
Chris Chase is not a traditional chiropractor, who acknowledged there is “nothing wrong with tradition, but our office offers something a little different.”
“I was offering my advice to a patient; however my approach was not effective, which was frustrating to me and our patient,” he stated.
“Later that evening, my mother-in-law was cooking a traditional Mediterranean dinner for my family. I was telling her about my bad day at the office, all the while the Food Network was playing in the background,” he continued.
“You see, one way to help patients with chronic pain is to stack the deck in their favor which involves eating more of and staying away from specific foods. Some foods increase pain and some foods thankfully, reduce pain.
“I said to my mother-in-law, ‘Too bad my patients can’t see what and how you prepare food, it would really help them.’ The idea hit me like a flash, Host a Mediterranean Cooking Show.
“Our patients and new friends ate imported Italian cheese from Sea Side Cheese in Cape May. Then our chef, my mother in law Josephine Cocchiola, taught us all how to prepare lentils and spinach with lemon chicken,” Chase stated.
“The night was magical. All attendees received gift bag from our office, which was filled with extras from our sponsor Green Street Market in Rio Grande. And many door prizes were up for grabs, such as Mediterranean cook books, gift certificates and wine,” he continued.
Chase is in his 10th year of private practice at Advanced Chiropractic.
