A New Twist on Sweet and Salty

The Pretzel Shop is located at 301 Rt. 9 N

Sweet or salty? At The Pretzel Shop in Cape May Court House, visitors can enjoy both tastes. The family owned and operated business opened because of their love of pretzels, and from there it only grew. The Pretzel Shop combines the Marinelli’s love of both sweet and salty to provide the area with hand-twisted pretzels, delicious homemade ice cream, and water ice.
“Our family has always been a pretzel family,” Vince said. Their pretzel journey officially began in 1999 when the Marinelli family started their first pretzel business. In 2008, Danielle left her job as a nurse and learned how to make ice cream from scratch, thus beginning the marriage of salty to sweet.
The Pretzel Shop is a family affair, with many members of the family helping out. Vince’s son and daughter work in the shop; Vince’s uncle Dan is a baker, Vince’s sister helps out and Danielle’s brother-in-law, Jimmy, greets customers at the counter.
Customers walking into The Pretzel Shop will immediately smell the delicious aroma of pretzels cooking in the oven. The shop makes anywhere from 1,000 to 5,000 pretzels a day.
The menu is unique and the choices are endless! “Philadelphia style” soft pretzels come in mini and regular sized. Pretzel nuggets are also available! Consider buying pretzels in bulk for your office or your next get together! Everything on The Pretzel Shop menu is reasonably priced.
To complement the pretzels, choose one of the house-made “dips!” The “dips” include house honey, stone ground, yellow, pale ale American cheese, and cheddar (aka wiz). The pale ale American cheese is made with beer from Bucket Brigade Brewery!
If you’re looking for a sweet pretzel, try the “craft,” a Bavarian-style topped with cinnamon sugar and pecan crumbs. Every bite is perfection! On the savory side, the “stuffed” pretzels include hot dogs, ham and American cheese, pepperoni and provolone, spinach and feta and buffalo chicken. The Pretzel Shop roasts the buffalo chicken on site.
“Everyone today is a foodie and we wanted to keep the old school pretzels and add a twist while keeping everything fresh and homemade,” Vince said.
Start your morning off right and stop at The Pretzel Shop and order a “breakfast,” a pretzel bagel with fresh cracked peppered egg with a choice of meat or avocado!
On the “sweet side,” try the delicious ice cream and water ice, handmade by Danielle every day. Each batch of ice cream is made with 14% buttermilk, from a local New Jersey farm.
“We only use fresh fruits and premium additions to our ice cream,” Danielle said. “The buttermilk is always fresh, never frozen.”
Choose from over a dozen of mouthwatering ice cream flavors! Fan favorites include the boozy banana, bordeaux cherry vanilla, salted pecan bourbon and the extremely popular bottom of the cookie jar! Bottom of the cookie jar is vanilla ice cream with chocolate chip cookies, Oreos and chocolate chips. The best part is all the ice cream flavors can be made into milkshakes!
The Pretzel Shop has an eco-friendly ice cream truck which is available for private events.
“The truck is 100% electric and everything on it is biodegradable, like the spoons,” Vince said.
If you are looking to cool off, try one of the delicious water ices, which Danielle also hand makes. Take a single or a pint to go and enjoy later! Wash down your delicious sweet treat and pretzels with fresh squeezed lemonade!
“The best part of our store is the people! Everyone has taken to the store and appreciates it and leaves happy,” Vince said. “It’s an appreciation like we’ve never seen before and Middle Township has been so welcoming.”
The Pretzel Shop is conveniently located off Exit 10 of the Garden State Parkway. Open Monday to Saturday 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Pretzel Shop will be open year-round and offseason hours will vary.
