CAPE MAY – Nancy Benson, of Cape May, N.J., shown here in the sun porch of the 1879 Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., is the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) Volunteer of the Month for April 2013. MAC Marketing/Publications Director Jean Barraclough nominated Benson for her help preparing for travel show season.
“The travel shows we attend during the winter months, as part of a joint effort with other local tourism organizations, are an important part of MAC’s marketing outreach to potential visitors,” said Barraclough. “One of the ways we get our information into the hands of these visitors is by putting together bags of information to be handed out at the shows. Nancy helped immeasurably with the many hours she put in collating material and making up these bags, all within tight show deadlines.”
Benson has been a volunteer for MAC for approximately eight years; she helps out with travel shows, mailings, holiday tours, private homes tours and the Designer Show House, and is looking forward to the 2013 Designer Show House opening for the season June 21. She said she really enjoys volunteering for MAC and meeting new people.
MAC benefits from the expertise of members of the community in a variety of ways. The Volunteer of the Month award is given to a person who demonstrates a high degree of dedication, commitment and constancy to MAC’s volunteer program.
