Avalon Historical Society Announces Clamshell Pitch Winners

AVALON – The Avalon Historical Society announced the winners of the Sixth Annual W. Norman Mackey Memorial Clamshell Pitch, held July 25 on Avalon’s 30th Street beach.  The games were enjoyed by approximately 30 contestants.
Singles:
First Place – Rob Broadwater
Second Place – Kurt Haley. 
Doubles:
First Place – Rob Broadwater and Kurt Haley
Second Place – Steve Coskey and Matt Ford.  
Mr. Norman Mackey taught the sport to his son Allan in the early 1940’s.  The Historical Society is eager to bring the revival of the clamshell pitch with participants 16 years and older enjoying a great classic game on the beach.
