Arc Artists exhibit their Work

By On Deck Staff

February 19 will be an exciting day for the Arc Artists. For the first time, this group of artists who have developmental and physical disabilities will have the honor of having their work exhibited in the Atrium at the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts in Millville.
The artists, who are clients of the Arc of Atlantic County, have been receiving weekly art instruction through an out-reach program with the Ocean City Fine Arts League under the guidance of artists Thelma Snyder and Sue Rau.
They have been working for months learning the techniques used to paint self portraits and portraits of their favorite famous people for this exhibit. Included in the selection of famous people is James Penland the man responsible for beginning the program they enjoy so much.
The Casa Felice Family and the Arc of Atlantic County have sponsored the exhibit at the Renaissance Center. The artists have dedicated the exhibit to the memory of Barry Dutton, a volunteer who supported their creative development and passed away last year.
The public is invited to the opening reception on Friday, Feb. 19 from 6-9 p.m. at The Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts, 22 N. High St. in Millville.
The show runs through Sunday, March 14. Exhibit hours are 11 am-5 pm Sunday-Thursday 11 a.m.–8 p.m., Friday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. For more information call 856-327-4500
