AMVETS Post 21 Marks First Year in Villas

Hands in on the flag as Rev. Deb Moore does the flag dedication prayer.

By Press Release

VILLAS – AMVETS Post 21 moved into Villas a year ago, at 1519 Bayshore Road, and brought life back into that corner property.
According to a release, to celebrate and commemorate the building being occupied, and to honor and memorialize veterans of the past, members of the community were invited to the post and write the names of their loved ones on the post’s walls.
Rev. Deb Moore, of Deb Moore Ministries, was invited to perform a building foundation blessing and flag dedication ceremony.
The flag was at half-staff in memory of U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings’ passing, so the flag was temporarily removed to be blessed and dedicated.
At the conclusion, it was hoisted to half staff.
During the building foundation blessing, Moore cited Scripture to bless each room of the building and at the conclusion, those in attendance were given scriptures to place on the walls, in the room where the old sheet rock was removed.
Now that the scriptures and names are in place, they will remain forever within the blessed walls. Even though the ceremony is over, visitors can stop by and put a name or message on the walls, before the new sheet rock goes up.
Sen. Robert “Bob” Andrzejczak (D-1st) attended and presented the post with a Joint Legislative Commendation for the event.
George Daly, of Heroes on the Water, also attended. He and Commander Bill Archer did a shirt exchange after the ceremony.
