4-H Horse Council Holds Fundraising Ride

By On Deck Staff

BELLEPLAIN — On Nov. 8, Cape May County’s 4-H Horse Council celebrates seven years of fundraising for St. Jude Children’s Hospital with an afternoon trail ride.
All riders are invited to join the fun for a great cause. The ride will leave from the Crooked Horn Gunning Club, in Belleplain, at 1 p.m. in two groups, one for faster riders and one who enjoy a slow, leisurely ride.
The trail ride entry fee is $25 if pre-registered with payment before Nov. 8 and $400 the day of the ride. Riders are encouraged to get additional sponsorships as all proceeds are donated to the children of St. Jude Hospital.
St. Jude awards prizes based on how much money riders raise for the hospital.
Last year, riders raised over $2,000 for this worthy charitable cause.
Entry forms and sponsorship sheets are available at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Office, 355 Courthouse-South Dennis Road and at the website at www.capemaycountygov.net, then click “Departments,” then “Rutgers Cooperative Extension.”
The trail ride is open to all riders. Safety helmets are required. Riders must provide their own horses. The group will enjoy a potluck luncheon and cook out after the ride.

The 4-H Youth Development Program is part of Rutgers Cooperative Extension. 4-H educational programs are offered to all youth, grades K-13, on an age-appropriate basis, without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
A rain date of Nov. 15 has been set in case of inclement weather. For additional information, contact 4-H program associate Linda Horner, at 609-465-5115.
