Colleen Goodwin, a lifelong local, has spent most of her career helping people in Cape May County jump back on their feet after an injury. She is the Director of the Twin Boro’s Cape May Courthouse location and enjoys watching her patients return to activities they once loved – golf, pickleball, morning jogs – but feared they would have to give up. Now is a great time to book an appointment since the summer rush has ended.

Colleen was a clinic director at Bacharach of Cape May Court House before she joined forces with Twin Boro. Colleen has helped patients with a wide spectrum of injuries, like neurological damage caused by strokes to orthopedic injuries like ankle fractures. She helps many patients with vertigo; she said that she has completely alleviated symptoms for several patients experiencing benign proximal vertigo.

She said: “I love my job. I love helping people get more active. I love the relationships I build with my patients. I’ve made friendships through this job; we get a little window into each other’s lives.”

Two recent recovery stories stand out in her mind, she told the Herald. A local surfer needed a complete knee replacement in his 20s and was scared he might never surf again. With Colleen’s help, he was back on his board after 6 weeks of physical therapy and 6 months of healing time.

Another patient, a local biker who suffered from a knee injury, took one of his first bike rides back on the saddle, 20 miles from his home, over to Twin Boro. He wanted to show Colleen what a difference she made in his life.

Colleen works on arm strength with a patient.

“He showed up covered in sweat – it meant so much to me,” she said.

Colleen uses evidence-based methods to help her patients. “I’m not afraid to push them hard,” she said. “I want my patients to get their normal lives back.”

Colleen played basketball and softball in college and teaches classes at CrossFit 609, a fitness center n Dennis Township of which she is a co-owner. She knows the pain that comes from sports-related injuries and the ways that a good physical therapist can make a difference. Her own experience with sports injuries as a kid, and physical therapy volunteer time she spent in high school, set her on the path she still follows today.

Twin Boro is taking new patients. They offer a variety of physical therapy services, including general orthopedic, sports medicine, spine, arthritis, pediatric care, and vestibular and concussion rehabilitation. Twin Boro also has a location in Egg Harbor.
