CAPE MAY COUNTY – What do banks, libraries, and community centers all have in common? They are locations where you can drop off old and used eyeglasses to help people who desperately need them.

This month the Avalon Lions are saying thank you to the hundreds of people who have used Lions Club drop boxes scattered around Cape May County locations to donate eyeglasses.

Since 2015, Avalon Lions Club member, Nancy Wolgemuth, has been the Sight Chairman and over the past eight years has personally collected over 33,000 eyeglasses. She gathers them from the donation boxes by the bag and box full. Then, club members take turns driving them over one hundred miles to the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center in West Trenton, New Jersey.

Collection boxes can be found around the county, from Rio Grande to Marmora including the vision center at Walmart. The Lions hope you think of others when it comes to eyeglasses and sight..Nancy will appreciate it.
