WILDWOOD CREST – A good Samaritan called 911 and began performing CPR on a man found unconscious and unresponsive on the Myrtle Avenue beach Tuesday morning, July 2.
The Police Department received a call at around 6:20 a.m. Tuesday reporting the man on the beach. When officers arrived, the caller was performing CPR on the unconscious man. Police said life-saving measures were ceased, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, along with the New Jersey Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, responded to assist with the investigation. A short time later, notification was made to the next of kin.
The cause of death has not been determined and is pending an autopsy; the incident is still under investigation. There was no indication of foul play, police said.
