Normally in a government shutdown employees are furloughed and then hired back, if a shutdown happens this time many in government won’t be hired back. Doge wanted deeper cuts than they got, if Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries shut down the government because President Trump won’t give in to their extreme demands DOGE will get their wish.
