In Hungary, since 2010 Orbán has been using the force created by popular anger at the failings of liberal policies to build up authoritarian capitalism. This system is deeply illiberal but capitalist: private property and the profit logic still rule, but the state bureaucracy and its institutions only serve and enrich the preferred national economic elite. Sound familiar? We're getting there!
