MAYS LANDING – The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office announced that an Ocean View man pleaded guilty, June 27, to first-degree sexual assault on a minor in Atlantic County.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office issued a press release saying Taron Thomas, 33, of Ocean View, admitted in a plea agreement that in April 2021, he committed an act of sexual penetration on his 14-year-old niece at the victim’s Galloway Township home.
Thomas faces 10 years in New Jersey state prison for first-degree sexual assault on a minor. Thomas would have to serve 85% of his sentence to be eligible for parole eligibility, followed by registration pursuant to Megan’s Law and parole supervision for life.
Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 19 before Superior Court Judge W. Todd Miller pending an evaluation at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center.
