ZIMMER, JOHN C.

ZIMMER, JOHN C. John C. Zimmer, Age 87, of North Wildwood, New Jersey, passed away on December 14, 2023. John was born to John G. Zimmer and Helen Mary Springart, on March 9, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his brothers, Gary and his wife Linda, Eddie and his wife Pat, Kenny and his wife Debbie and Buddy and his wife Ginny. He was a loving husband to Fran who passed away on October 3, 2016 and wonderful father and father-in-law to his daughter, Terri Ludwig and her husband Paul. Known as "Poppo" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren – John was the proudest of grandparents of his grandsons Jason and Nicholas as well as Nick's wife, Jenn and his great-grandchildren, Safiyyah (Jason) and Carter (Nick/Jenn) who were his pride and joy. He was a prime example of never letting life get you down and he will be greatly missed by all of his family. We will all remember the smile on his face when we shared many family times… whether special occasions or just being together. No words can express the loss we feel without him in our lives. John was a U.S. Army Veteran who served from July, 1958 to July, 1964. Following his service, he worked for the Philadelphia Water Department until his retirement. John also worked for a time on the Wildwood Boardwalk with the Tram Car organization until obtaining a position with the Cape May Bridge Commission as a toll taker. A position he held and loved for many, many years until his passing. He was an avid sportsmen. Golfing was a pleasure he thoroughly enjoyed and he played, even recently, often several times a week. Golfing with his buddies "The Choir Boys" a golf group he was a member of… brought him great joy. He also loved to fish, especially with his Nephew, Michael Budnick, who he thought of as a son. When he wasn't working, golfing or fishing, he was watching sports on TV……especially his EAGLES, PHILLIES or PENN STATE. He was a very special one of a kind man. His passing creates a void no one else can fill. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Ingersoll Greenwood Funeral Home, 1201 Central Avenue, North Wildwood, NJ. Condolences may be sent to ingersollgreenwoodfh@comcast.net In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Cape May County Veteran's Administration via their website at www.veteranspatriotsofcapemay.org
