WILDWOOD – A city man has been arrested for the second time within two years on warrants related to child pornography charges, after he was spotted riding his bike and reported to police.

Keith R. Aubrey, 42, was arrested on outstanding warrants by department officers who on Thursday, April 18, received information that Aubrey was seen riding a bicycle in the area of Oak Avenue and the boardwalk.

During the investigation, a Wildwood officer observed Aubrey hiding in a tent underneath the boardwalk at Oak Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident and turned over to the Wildwood Crest Police Department, which had arrested him in the 7200 block of Pacific Avenue on warrants related to possession of child pornography on Nov. 20, 2022.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Aubrey was stopped and arrested in Wildwood Crest at about 2:15 a.m. on that date for riding a bicycle at night with no light. A check of the National Crime Information Center database revealed he had warrants for his arrest; the officer advised Aubrey he had warrants and took him into custody.

Wildwood Crest police also searched him and recovered a scan disk that allegedly contained 1,650 items of child sexual abuse materials, including still photos and videos. A search of his backpack resulted in police finding two glass pipes with suspected methamphetamine residue and a stun gun.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, when he was arrested in November 2022 his criminal history showed a burglary conviction from 2002.

Aubrey was charged on Nov. 20, 2022, with second-degree endangering the welfare of children for possessing child pornography. He was also charged with third-degree possession of drug paraphernalia and with fourth-degree certain persons not to possess a weapon, based on his 2002 conviction.

There was no information immediately available from authorities as to the relationship between the warrants in 2022 and those cited this spring.

After his arrest this April 18, Aubrey was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center.
