Wildwood Crest Awarded $9,000 From Statewide Mayors Wellness Campaign

From the Borough of Wildwood Crest

The Borough of Wildwood Crest is one of just 11 municipalities across the state to receive grant funding for 2025 from the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute Mayors Wellness Campaign. Wildwood Crest has been awarded $9,000 toward wellness workshops utilizing the Breath for Change curriculum focusing on older adults and children.

The grant is part of $127,500 awarded to municipalities across the state to support mental health initiatives and address intimate partner violence and substance use prevention.

The statewide Mayors Wellness Campaign is a partnership with the New Jersey League of Municipalities. Grants were funded by Walmart.

Wildwood Crest is one of two communities from South Jersey awarded this grant, along with Woodlynne in Camden County. Other municipalities across the state to receive grant awards include Asbury Park, the City of Elizabeth, the City of Paterson, the City of Perth Amboy, the City of Plainfield, Cranbury Township, Fairview Borough, Livingston Township and the Township of West Orange.

The grants will fund a diverse range of programs across the 11 communities. Wildwood Crest intends to use its grant money for two programs. The first is a wellness workshop program that includes chair yoga, meditation and other light exercises designed for seniors, veterans and those with limited mobility. The second is a children’s gentle yoga and art class program.

“The Borough of Wildwood Crest is extremely pleased and honored to receive this grant money through the Mayors Wellness Campaign,” Wildwood Crest Mayor Don Cabrera said. “Through our recreation department, Wildwood Crest has embraced the statewide Mayors Wellness Campaign initiatives through a wide array of programs and activities. This grant money will go to good use as we look to expand our already diverse health and wellness programming here in Wildwood Crest.”

For the past three years, Wildwood Crest has been named a “Healthy Town,” by the statewide Mayors Wellness Campaign, the organization’s highest designation for a municipality.
