Venezia on Third is a Year-Round Fusion Restaurant in Stone Harbor

Herald Staff

Venezia on Third is a new fine dining fusion restaurant on Third Ave in Stone Harbor that offers a blend of multicultural cuisine in an inviting, family-friendly atmosphere. Open in the off-season, Venezia on Third delivers a dining experience that’s both sophisticated and relaxed.

The dinner menu at Venezia on Third is diverse, featuring American entrees infused with global flavors inspired by owner Ashley’s travels. Executive Chef Richard, with over 30 years of experience, leads a small team that has honed their skills over decades at local restaurants. Their signature dishes showcase a blend of Asian, Italian, and Caribbean influences, offering something for every palate.

One of the restaurant’s standout dishes is the roast duck, a beloved staple from the days of The Black Duck on Sunset in Cape May, where it was a crowd favorite. The dish is served with brown rice quinoa, stir-fried vegetables, and a rich hoisin sauce, a testament to the chefs’ dedication to perfection.

Another popular choice is the pan-seared local salmon, which Chef Karl recommends preparing medium. The dish is paired with a decadent lobster and vegetable risotto, featuring chunks of lobster, fresh green beans, and corn straight from the cob, all brought together with a zesty cilantro lime sauce.

Ashley says that their Lobster Crab Ravioli is a must-try. This dish is served with a homemade pink blush sauce, topped with lump crab meat, offering a delightful twist on the classic vodka sauce—minus the vodka.

Owner Ashley has wanted to operate a restaurant for nearly her entire life. She ran the popular “Black Duck on Sunset” – she is driven by a lifelong passion for cooking and baking. A local from Erma, Ashley spent years as a special education teacher before finally taking the leap into business ownership. Her love for travel and exploration is reflected in the menu, with influences from the Caribbean, Africa, and beyond. From recreating Bahamian conch fritters with a twist to offering old-school comfort foods like chicken and dumplings, Ashley’s culinary creations are varied.

Sweets and Treats

All of the deserts at Venezia on Third are made in-house. From the rich New York-style cheesecake to the flourless chocolate torte with homemade whipped cream, the desserts are a perfect way to end a meal. The restaurant also offers biweekly dessert specials and custom cake orders, ensuring there’s always something new to try.

Come As You Are

Despite its fine dining offerings, Venezia on Third maintains a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere. “We’re fine dining, but we’re not suit and tie,” says Larry, Ashley’s father. “We want people to come in and be comfortable.” The restaurant’s interior reflects this balance, with intimate dimmed lighting, gold napkins, black tablecloths, and fresh flowers on every table.

More Than Just Dinner

Venezia on Third is more than just a dinner spot. Breakfast is served from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering a casual start to the day with $5 breakfast sandwiches and coffee. For beachgoers, the restaurant offers beach delivery from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring favorites like chicken tenders, tater tots, and hot dogs.

With its commitment to quality, from house-made sauces and churned butter to freshly baked desserts, Venezia on Third hopes to become a staple in Stone Harbor’s dining scene. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual breakfast, a fine dining experience, or just to satisfy a sweet tooth, Venezia on Third promises a meal to remember.
