Upper Salutes Eighth Grade Basketball Team

The Upper Township Committee honored the Upper Township Basketball Association’s eighth grade boys basketball team on its winning the South Shore Basketball League championship March 9 in Wildwood Crest. According to the resolution passed by the committee on Monday, April 8, the team averaged over 40 points per game during the regular season and led the league in scoring. Upper Township defeated Dennis Township, 44-35, in the championship game. Team members included (name followed by jersey number): Andrew Zintner (1), Bobby Drewnowski (3), Jake Candeloro (8), Jeremy Kopiyo (9), Tommy Christopher (10), Christopher Wieand (12), Trent Ocello (13), Liam Weber (15), Anthony Libro (23), Columb Higgins (28), Johnny Klebaur (30) and Alexander Christensen (34). The team was led by head coach Bob Drewnowski and assistant coaches Steve Alford and Joel Zintner.
