The 44-mile Atlantic City Expressway is managed by the South Jersey Transportation Authority. Its main toll plaza increased rates by 3% for cash customers this summer.

Toll hikes took effect Jan. 1 on the Atlantic City expressway, impacting drivers travelling to Cape May County from parts of the Delaware Valley.

The popular route to the Jersey shore from Philadelphia and its Pennsylvania and South Jersey suburbs hiked fees to $4.70, up from $4.55, for cars paying cash at the Egg Harbor toll plaza. EZ Pass tolls at the same location will jump from $2.91 to $3.01.

Drivers traveling to and from the county transfer to the Garden State Parkway, where another $1.50 toll is collected. The major bridges crossing the Delaware River, including the Ben Franklin Bridge, Walt Whitman Bridge and Commodore Barry Bridge each charge an additional $5 toll, one way, when entering Pennsylvania.

The South Jersey Transportation Authority approved the 2024 budget, including the toll indexing.
