TIERNEY, PRISCA H.
Prisca Helena Tierney, age 85, of Avalon, NJ died peacefully on Sunday, July 28, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Originally from East Orange, she has lived in Avalon Manor full time since 1992, coming from Somerville NJ.
Born in 1938 to the late Winfield and Priska Rhoads, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband John in 2009. Prisca was a devout member of the First United Methodist Church in Cape May Court House and found comfort in her faith. She was active in the Youth Choir at the First Baptist Church in Somerville for many years.
Prisca was a devoted mother of seven and was a foster parent to many children. While working at the Windrift Hotel in Avalon for 25 years, she made many life long permanent friendships.
She lovingly enjoyed seeing her 7 children marry and have 23 grandchildren. She was 'Gigi' to 17 great grandchildren loving the hugs, kisses, laughter, and smiles from all of them! Prisca especially enjoyed taking the grandchildren to the beach, getting dinner and ice cream, or introducing them to the Wetlands Institute. Her favorite place was truly her forever home on Avalon Manor with the windows open and the sea breeze blowing.
Prisca, Pri, Chris, Mom, Grandma, Gigi was well loved by her family and friends and will be forever in our hearts.
