THORPE, MYRIEL A. Myriel A. Thorpe, who just celebrated her 80th birthday on March 8th, unexpectedly passed away Saturday, March 16th, 2024 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Born in Lusk Wyoming, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Bernice (Murphy) Klemke. Myriel met the love of her life, William Thorpe, while he was in the Air Force stationed in Wyoming. The two married December 2, 1960 and eventually moved to Pennsauken, New Jersey before retiring to Cape May. Myriel enjoyed gardening and was known to have a "green thumb".She also enjoyed sewing and cooking. In addition to her husband, her greatest joys were raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren. Myriel leaves behind her husband of 63 years, William; sons Craig and Gary (Linda) Thorpe; and daughter Donna Altamuro (Ray). She will forever be known as Grammy and Mimi to her six grandchildren, Ian Thorpe, Kelsey Thorpe, Mary Altamuro-Sollimo (Alex), Marisa Thorpe, Lauren Thorpe – fiancée of Joey Palmer, and Raymond Thorpe. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and many close friends. Funeral Services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
