ERMA – The Wagging Tail, a family-owned pet store in Erma that has been in operation for 37 years, was named “Retailer of the Year” by Pet Product News, the leading industry publication that assesses pet stores across America. Patsy Nelson, the store’s founder who still runs the store, was overjoyed at the award – the publication wrote an in-depth story on her success and told readers nationwide what has made her store so attractive.

Nelson told Pet Product News that it has been hard to challenge the emergence of online retailers, and has been equally difficult to keep up with rising prices across the industry. Still, her store emerges triumphant. The cheery yellow exterior has been a staple in Erma, a town the publication called “quintessential hometown America,” for more than 30 years.

The Wagging Tail sells pet food, toys, and supplements of a higher quality than those found at big-box stores. And her staff is deeply knowledgable and willing to help anybody with questions they might have. The store has recently begun to rescue local cats and adopt them out to loving owners. Come drop by the store to meet some of these friendly kitties. They might just change your life.
