Thank You, Dennis Roberts

By Tim Donohue, Court House

To the Editor:

For nearly 25 years, Dennis Roberts has tirelessly served the good people of Middle Township as a member and president of our school board. The past quarter century has brought unprecedented challenges and ever-increasing complexity, as small communities like ours struggle to provide a quality education for our children at a cost we can afford while preserving the traditional family values that define our hometown.

Through eight terms on the school board, Dennis has provided intelligent and innovative leadership. He has fairly and faithfully negotiated labor contracts, expanded opportunities for all students and shepherded sensible and sound construction and modernization programs.

Beyond his service to the school board, Dennis has served for many years, with integrity and distinction, on the New Jersey School Ethics Commission, traveling to Trenton on a regular basis to pursue the mission to ensure ethical behavior by all school employees and to protect all New Jersey students.

As a member of Middle Township Committee for the past 12 years (seven years as your mayor), I’ve been honored to work hand in hand with Dennis, the board of education and their excellent administrative staff to foster a spirit of ongoing cooperation and partnership between our municipality and the school board. Through open lines of communication, multiple shared services agreements and a mutual commitment to a better quality of life, this partnership continues to serve our students and our taxpayers well.

Dennis Roberts will be leaving our school board at the end of 2023. But I have no doubt that Dennis and the Roberts family will continue to generously support our hometown and personify the best of what a community-minded citizen can be.

Thank you, Dennis, on behalf of all the people of Middle Township.
