STURM, JOHN CHARLES John Charles Sturm, 86 of Woodbine, NJ passed away April 13, 2024. He was born in Cape May Court House on August 5, 1937 to the late William E. and Sallie R. Sturm. He was predeceased by his first wife Doris Kludzuweit Sturm in 1999 and is survived by his present wife Darlene Wright Sturm. Also surviving are his daughters Pamela Van Meter and Kathleen Russell; grand-children: John Laughlin and Sarah Davis; and two great grandchildren: Piper and Jasper Davis. He is also survived by stepchildren: Erica Sloan and David Sloan; and step grand-children: Tamira Spence, Joshua Sloan, and Naledge Goff. He was a graduate of Middle Township High School where he played football and was a unanimous Cape Atlantic All Star First Team in 1954. He served in the NJ National Guard obtaining the position of Battalion Sgt. Major. John was active in the community and served on the Woodbine Planning Board and Airport Authority. John was an Exempt Member and former Chief of the Middle Township Volunteer Fire Company and member of First Baptist Church of Cape May Court House. He was a noted quarter horse breeder and owned Hy-Line Farm Quarter Horses. John was retired from the NJ Department of Trans-portation and worked almost 30 years with G.A. Barrett Asphalt Company as General Superintendent. Public viewing will be Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Baptist Cemetery, Church and Magnolia Road, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
