STONE HARBOR – In her monthly report to council, Borough Recreation Director Shannon MacPherson said the 97th Street playground was in “need of some love.” MacPherson used her Tuesday, Jan. 16, report to explain that the borough will be submitting a grant application to the Cape May County Open Space Program for the improvements to the playground.

The goal is to “improve on what we have,” MacPherson said. “We are looking to make the basketball court wider, replace playground equipment with newer models, add safety services, shade areas and a public restroom.”

Borough Engineer Mark DeBlasio said there has been an “initial consultation with the county and it was favorable.”

Later in the meeting the council approved a resolution authorizing an award to DeBlasio & Associates for development of the conceptual design of the recreational complex improvements in time for the March 1 county deadline.
