CAPE MAY – On August 13, 2024, Steve Bodnar announced his candidacy for Council Member for the City of Cape May.

Bodnar is currently on the Cape May City Zoning Board and Municipal Taxation and Revenue Advisory Committee. As a member of the Zoning Board, he reviews applications by property owners for variances for new and existing structures in relation to zoning ordinances. MTRAC investigates alternative sources of revenue for the City of Cape May and offers innovative recommendations to maintain the City’s property taxes at the minimum level needed to provide necessary City services.

Bodnar was a career prosecutor prior to retiring from practicing law in the public and private sectors. His childhood summers were spent in Cape May where he worked throughout high school and college. He has been a homeowner in Cape May for 16 years.

“I have worked and lived in Cape May almost my entire life. Cape May has been a constant for me, even when my job took me elsewhere. It is a great community with a rich history. I support the construction of the police station and other capital projects that are in the planning stage. Nonetheless, we cannot let these projects or other forces jeopardize Cape May’s unique character, which makes our community so special. That is why my platform is: Supporting Our Future. Respecting Our Past.”
