Obituary

SPEIGEL, JACQUELINE

SPEIGEL, JACQUELINE Jacqueline Speigel, 87, of Wildwood, NJ passed away peacefully on April 8, 2024 surrounded by her children and sisters after a brief illness. Born in Philadelphia, PA she moved to and was raised in Wildwood. This is where she met and married her husband Floyd whom she would spend the next 68 years of their lives together prior to his death in January, 2023. She was a housewife raising 7 children while all the time taking care of her husband when he "popped" in at home in between his many jobs. She loved to be surrounded by her children and eventually her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always heard saying she'd never move out of Wildwood because "she had sand in her shoes" although she never really frequented the beach. Floyd and Jackie were fortunate enough to spend about 20-years as snow birds enjoying their winters in Hollywood, Florida with her sisters and family. She was a member of the Wildwood Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary spending many cold winter nights serving coffee and doughnuts to firefighters as they battled some of Wildwood's most devastating and notable fires, many times with her children in tote to assist. She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Cecilia Rice, sisters Jeanne, Dolores, Pat and brothers Sonny and Jack. She is survived by sisters Roberta Auciella, Sharon Simpson and brother-in-law Bob (Bonnie) Speigel, children Floyd (Nola), Lucille Shubert, Jackie (Bill) Johnson, Chris, David (Cindy), Kym (Mike) and Daniel (Andrea), also survived by 15 grand-children and 19 great grand-children. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, April 15, 2024 at St. Ann's Church, 2900 Atlantic Avenue, Wildwood, NJ where friends may call from 10:00am 10:45 am. Burial will be in the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery in Cape May Court House, NJ. In lieu of flowers consider a donation to the Wildwood Fire Company.Condolences may be sent to ingersollgreenwoodfh.com.
