SMITH, PATRICIA
Patricia “Pat” Smith (Inemer) – 1945 – 2025
Patricia “Pat” Inemer Smith, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on September 11, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Patricia was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Inemer. Patricia's love for life was only rivaled by her devotion to her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Veronica Katz (Edwin) and Vanessa Blood (David), as well as her cherished granddaughters, Amelia and Avery. She also leaves behind her siblings, Joseph Inemer (Eileen), Rosemary Egan, John Inemer, and Michael Inemer (Christine) and her sister-in-law Ruth Inemer.
Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband and the love of her life, James Smith; her parents, Joseph and Mary Inemer; her sister, Jeannie Gallagher; and her brother, Danny Inemer.
Patricia was a proud graduate of West Catholic High School for Girls where she may or may not have stirred up some mischief. After having two daughters, she went back to college until impressively graduating with a double major in Computer Science and Economics at Glassboro State College (Rowan University) with honors. Patricia had a remarkable career at IBM, where she dedicated many years of service followed by a successful encore real estate career. She was a role model, especially to her daughters and granddaughters.
Patricia was known not only for her professional acumen but for her warm and generous spirit. She was an active member of the community leaving every place she lived in a little brighter. Patricia was the founder of the 4th of July Parade in Sewell, NJ, a tradition that brought together countless families and friends to celebrate the holiday. Patricia will always be remembered for her big annual summer parties whether in Sewell or the Jersey Shore. She loved bringing her friends and family together at these events. In the last decades, Patricia enjoyed organizing social activities for and spending time at her beloved Holly Lake Resort Community where she owned a vacation home. For many years, Patricia enjoyed the best of both worlds, splitting her time between her homes in Clermont, NJ, and Redington Shores/Madeira Beach, FL, affectionately known as a “snowbird.”
Patricia adored celebrating the Mummer's Parade with her family, playing slots at the casinos, Disney, bingo, lighthouses, relaxing boat trips, Wawa, the Phillies and traveling with her family. Her favorite travel adventures included living like locals in Altamonte Italy, visiting her ancestral home country Ireland, London, and an Outlander tour in Scotland. While these trips created rich memories with beloved family and dear friends, they were extra special because they always included her most precious granddaughters.
Patricia was a fun, vibrant, stunningly beautiful, and, on a lighter note, a lovably quirky woman. Patricia was a self-professed Cheetos enthusiast and meatloaf artist with her own set of uniquely curated food rules and hopeless romantic with an adorable yet surprising fondness for Vampire romances as well as Romcoms, Bridgerton, Pride & Prejudice. She was the 1958 Hula Hoop Champion in Philadelphia. Pat rocked sunglasses like a movie star, wore hysterically funny t-shirts, avoided being photographed by her paparazzi and rarely allowed her skin to touch the sun. Her warm smile lit up every room. Early on, Patricia's daughters gave her the nickname Marilyn, joking that Marilyn Monroe hadn't really died but was secretly in the witness protection program as their mom. Whether you called her Pat/Patricia, Aunt Patsy, Mom, Sis, GMom or even Marilyn, she was simply an icon.
Patricia's vibrant personality, sense of humor, caring nature, and commitment to her family and community will be deeply missed. She leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
In honor of her memory, three Celebration of Life Events will take place. On March 22, 2025, at 1pm, there will be a private luncheon for her family and closest friends at the Avalon Golf Club in Cape May Court House, NJ. At 5pm, on March 22nd, there will be a “St. Patsy Day” event held at the Holly Lake Resorts at 70 Lake Drive, Woodbine, NJ. A private theater viewing of her favorite movie occurred on March 7th in Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your choice of the following: American Lung Association or American Heart Association to further advancements in the areas that most impacted Patricia's health or to Barrier Island Strong to aid in hurricane recovery efforts in the community she called home each winter.
May she rest in peace.
