SEA ISLE CITY – Sea Isle City is among the 18 shore communities that will share $100 million in state boardwalk preservation funding. Mayor Leonard Desiderio said the city will receive just under $2 million, which will go toward structural repairs, additional decorative lighting, and additional handicapped access.

Desiderio made his remarks at the Feb. 27 City Council meeting. He said the money comes from the state’s Boardwalk Preservation Fund established by the American Rescue Plan, one of the federal government’s pandemic relief acts.

Cape May County towns comprise six of the 18 coastal communities that received boardwalk preservation funding. County towns will receive a total of $33 million, or one-third of the $100 million the state is allocating.
