SEA ISLE CITY – The City Council has introduced an $11.6 million bond ordinance to fund various capital improvements this year. The largest share, $5.5 million, is directed at citywide road reconstruction and drainage improvements.

The ordinance, introduced by the council at its meeting Tuesday, Jan. 9, also allots $2.35 million to the acquisition of sport utility vehicles for several departments, along with refuse collection vehicles, an ambulance and line-painting equipment.

Some $3.3 million of the funding is earmarked for building and facility improvements, including additional funding for construction of the planned community center.

A final $460,000 is directed to equipment purchases and installation, including citywide security cameras.

A second reading of the ordinance, a required public hearing and a potential vote on its adoption is scheduled for the council meeting Tuesday, Feb. 13.
